Open doors in Diecimo and Avigliano for the kids of Save the Children's Punti Luce. On 12 and 14 July, as part of the newly renewed collaboration with the international organisation Save the Children Lucart opened the doors of its plants in Diecimo (LU) and Avigliano (PZ) to welcome the youngsters taking part in the Punti Luce programme in Prato and Potenza and introduce them to the world of paper making.

The factory visit

After an initial presentation, the children involved in the Punti Luce project and their educators were guided by a team of Lucart employees through the various steps of paper making process from raw materials to the processing of the jumbo reels, converting and finished product packaging.

At the end of the visit, Lucart named the children as the new Eco-Ambassadors to acknowledge their commitment to environmental sustainability.

The two-day experience was packed with enjoyment and opportunities for Lucart employees and the Punti Luce youngsters, who learnt about the world of paper and recycling and expanded their educational background in the areas of sustainability, recycling and reuse of materials.

The collaboration with Save the Children

The Punti Luce are spaces with high educational density located in disadvantaged neighbourhoods and city suburbs, which offer free training and educational opportunities to girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 17. In these spaces, the children and their families can take part in various activities, all offered completely free of charge, including study support, art, music and active citizenship education workshops, reading promotion, access to new technologies, play and motor activities.

The Punti Luce, together with Spazio Mamme and Fiocchi in Ospedale projects, are some of the Save the Children actions dedicated to families and their children that Lucart has chosen to support through corporate volunteering activities.
